OCU are looking for an experienced Fibre Supervisor to join the Team based in Borehamwood. The Fibre Supervisor will lead a team of technicians and contractors across London, ensuring that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise in fibre optic technology, and the ability to manage project timelines and resources effectively. Responsibilities Lead and supervise a team of fibre optic technicians and contractors, providing guidance, support, and direction as needed. Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members, ensuring that workloads are balanced and deadlines are met. Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and identify opportunities for training and development. Plan and coordinate fibre optic installation projects, including scheduling of resources, materials procurement, and equipment deployment. Monitor project progress, track milestones, and communicate updates to stakeholders. Identify potential risks or obstacles to project success and implement mitigation strategies as necessary. Oversee the installation, splicing, termination, and testing of fibre optic cables and equipment. Ensure that installations are completed safely, accurately, and in compliance with industry standards and regulations. Conduct routine maintenance checks and inspections to identify and address any issues or defects in the network infrastructure. Implement quality assurance processes to ensure that fibre optic installations meet the required standards for performance, reliability, and safety. Conduct quality checks and audits of completed work, rectifying any deficiencies and documenting corrective actions. Enforce strict adherence to health and safety policies and procedures, both on-site and in the workplace. Conduct regular safety briefings, toolbox talks, and training sessions to promote a culture of safety awareness among team members. Maintain accurate records of project activities, including work schedules, equipment inventories, and maintenance logs. Prepare progress reports, incident reports, and other documentation as required by management or regulatory authorities. Skills and Experience Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within the telecommunications or utilities sector, with a focus on fibre optic network installations. Strong technical knowledge of fibre optic technology, including splicing, termination, testing, and troubleshooting. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members to achieve project goals. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to liaise with internal stakeholders, clients, and contractors. Proven ability to manage projects, allocate resources, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Relevant certifications such as CFCE (Certified Fibre Characterisation Engineer) or CFOS/O (Certified Fibre Optic Specialist/Outside Plant) may be advantageous. Knowledge of health and safety regulations, best practices, and risk management principles.
