Clinical Nurse Specialist (Stoma Care)

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, highly motivated and dynamic individual with a genuine interest in stoma care who is ready to develop their skills and knowledge to become a stoma care nurse specialist. You would be joining our friendly and innovative team based in the hospital, but also covering the community. The individual will need to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and the ability to work well within a small team and autonomously. The successful candidate will have recent clinical experience of caring for patients with a stoma, at least two years nursing experience, demonstrate relevant knowledge of conditions which may result in stoma formation and embody the Trust values and beliefs.

Main duties of the job

As a key member of the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, you will be joining an exceptional team working together to help our patients to stay healthy, when they need it most.

Job responsibilities

The role will involve working in partnership with patients, families and the Multidisciplinary Teams in the hospital and wider community, providing high quality, compassionate and expert stoma nursing care. You will be part of the team providing pre-operative counselling and siting, post-operative teaching, discharge planning and preparation, outpatient nurse-led clinics and implementing continued care from hospital to home. You will be supported to develop your skills through mentorship, training, competency based assessment and educational opportunities including attending relevant study days. You will be expected to contribute to departmental research, quality improvement projects, and be involved in teaching stoma care to other health care professionals.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time registered Band 6 nurse to join our stoma care team at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital. This will be a developmental role requiring competencies and appropriate courses to be completed.

Working Pattern:

Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week (Bank holiday cover required on a rota basis)
