Are you an experienced NICU qualified nurse looking for an exciting career opportunity? We are currently looking to recruit motivated nurses to join our dynamic neonatal and paediatric retrieval teams.

PaNDR (Paediatric and Neonatal Decision Support and Retrieval Service) is the neonatal and paediatric retrieval service for the East of England. Whilst the teams work within their clinical speciality, the teams also work supportively and collaboratively together. Providing expert critical care to neonates and children up to the age of 16 years with a variety of medical and surgical conditions both at their referring hospital and in the ambulance en-route to PICU/NICU.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for providing direct clinical care to infants requiring emergency and elective transfer. Providing care to infants and their families through infant assessment: continuation or alteration of treatment and evaluation of care. To work as part of the emergency transfer team and also undertake the transfer of stable infants as the lead nurse without direct supervision. Provide education and training for transport team members and other learners. Work with the senior management team and transport consultant to ensure effective and efficient management resources. To be involved in the planning and development of the service.

Qualifications

Essential

First level registration with NMC Post registration Paediatric critical care qualification Teaching and assessing / mentorship preparation qualification Evidence of degree level study or equivalent Approved Paediatric life support course

Desirable

Enhanced practice qualification Paediatric life support course instructor

Experience

Essential

Experience at Band 6 or above in a PICU environment Experience in the care of children requiring surgery Current or previous experience within a structured transport service Experience of managing and leading change processes Experience writing or updating guidelines for practice Evidence of identifying, writing and delivering audit packages to enhance quality and safety of care Experience of using computer packages to make working processes more effective and efficient Experience of innovation for service improvement

Desirable

Participation in teaching programmes at higher education providers

Knowledge

Essential

To have a depth of Paediatric nursing knowledge, integrating theory and practice. An understanding of service and operational issues related to Paediatric transport Awareness of professional issues affecting nursing and Paediatric care Understanding of risk processes and how to facilitate learning to reduce future risk

Knowledge of commissioning of higher education courses
