Overview

Our highly regarded and award-winning financial services regulatory team is looking for an experienced associate to help support and grow our non-contentious financial services offering. You'll be joining a high performing and hugely ambitious team providing market-leading and specialist legal advice to a range of financial services clients. Our typical clients include those offering consumer, motor, asset and mortgage finance, as well as savings, insurance and other regulated retail products. We act for many household names across our core sectors. You'll be given a strong support network, work alongside market-leading lawyers, have great learning opportunities and a genuine freedom for you to thrive and reach your potential. What you'll be doing as a Financial Services Regulatory Associate:

You'll handle a variety of financial services matters for household names, including national and international clients. You'll be supporting our team's non-contentious work from advising on the regulator perimeter, preparing applications for permissions and policies and procedures, reviewing and drafting contractual and other statutory documentation, advising on remediation issues and interactions with the Financial Conduct Authority and the Financial Ombudsman Service. You'll be given responsibility from the outset, with support where you need it. Our team also includes colleagues working on contentious financial services matters. You'll work closely with them, and we take pride in having a team of lawyers who have experience advising on both contentious and non-contentious issues. Many of our team have both drafted lending documentation, and successfully defended claims brought against lenders. We think our unique mix of contentious and non-contentious experience helps us to develop our lawyers and equips them to help our clients make difficult and fully-informed judgment calls. What we are looking for:

A strong understanding of the FCA regime Experience advising regulated products, ideally with a focus on consumer finance and (ideally) payment services A non-contentious lawyer with experience of advising on non-contentious technical issues A technically proficient and ambitious lawyer Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly communicate complex analysis in a clear and accessible way Ability to work collaboratively as part of team Self-motivated with the desire to develop strong relationships with clients and colleagues Sound legal analysis, client management and drafting skills, with strong attention to detail Some of our benefits include:

Salary reflective of your experience. Earn up to 35% of your salary with our annual bonus scheme. Minimum of 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays per year increasing to 31 days with length of service, with the opportunity to buy/sell up to 5 days holiday per year. Auto enrolled into the workplace pension scheme, and we'll contribute a minimum of 5% of your salary. 4x your annual salary in the event of a death in service. Hybrid and flexible working for most roles with 40-60% of your time spent in the office. Please speak to the recruitment team to discuss your flexible working preferences. Access to BUPA with no excess or compulsory payments. Company Values Our shared values represent our culture and the things that are important to us. They define who we are as a Firm, as an employer and what we expect of our people. They provide direction and purpose by influencing the decisions that we make and the actions that we take. It’s really important that all candidates and employees demonstrate these values in their day-to-day activities: Embrace the fact everyone is different and unique. You can be serious without wearing a suit. Never lose sight of the bigger picture. Two heads are better than one. Take the bull by the horns. We win & lose together. Walker Morris is committed to being an inclusive employer. Our aim is to ensure our workforce represents our diverse society. We recognise that everyone brings their own unique capabilities and experiences to their work. We welcome applications regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, age, neuro diversity or disability status, family or parental status, race, religion or ethnicity. We take great pride in being a Disability Confident Employer. If you need any reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process, please don't hesitate to ask. Click here
