Westinghouse Springfields Business is looking to fill a vacancy for a Quality Assurance Engineer in a key part of a well-supported team in a diverse environment within one of the most modern Fuel Fabrication Facilities in the World. The future for the business is extremely exciting with the opportunity to challenge themselves to provide Quality Assurance activities for existing customer contracts and also an increasing portfolio for new orders and new customers while ensuring that we continue to strive for safer standards and higher quality and identify new opportunities for carrying out day-to-day improvement opportunities. The role also provides the opportunity to work in new markets including Reprocessed Uranium Fuel, HALEU/LEU+ fuel and other next-generation fuel types. The business has a track record of developing employees into senior positions in the organization and outside the organization, and the successful candidate would be at the forefront of Nuclear Fuels Engineering in the U.K. Duties and Responsibilities: Certification of product to confirm it meets the requirements of a technical specification determined by our customer or internal technical team. Providing advice and decisions on potential non-conforming product, Quality Reviewer for related CAP’s (Corrective Action Process), managing documentation (i.e., inspection schedules), and oversight of plant qualifications. Carry out ‘in-process monitoring’ and ‘statistical process control’ to ensure manufacturing parameters are maintained within a predetermined window. Support the auditing of external parties and accompany the customer surveillance engineers along with attending customer Quality Meetings. Ability to communicate well with manufacturing and other departments, along with customers and their representatives. Supporting our CAP to carry out corrective actions & carrying out first-line quality investigations. Support the maintenance of certification to ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001. Assist the Quality Manager with defining, measuring, and improving Key Performance Indicators based around the 5 pillars of Safety, Quality, Cost, People and Delivery. Education and Qualifications/Skills and Competencies: Typically Engineering Degree (minimum 2:2) or equivalent experience/knowledge in relevant discipline. Experience of working within manufacturing as a Quality Engineer. Manufacturing quality assurance audit training and experience. Knowledge of ISO9001, ISO14001 & ISO45001. Experience in a customer-facing role. High standards and expectations in their approach to work. A high level of attention to detail, with a proven track record of delivering against targets. Able to train staff in Quality Assurance Engineering duties. Looks for continual improvement and justifies implementation. Strong leadership skills and able to communicate and guide in various formats to all levels within the company. Ability to troubleshoot and investigate analytical anomalies. Has a strong questioning attitude and able to identify issues. Technical ability to gain thorough understanding of the relevant plant processes. Applicants must be able to work in a controlled area. Ideally knowledge and experience in quality/operations management but other candidates will be considered. Experience of Statistical Process Control (SPC), trending & statistics evaluation. Continuous Improvement experience such as Green Belt, Black Belt, Six Sigma etc. Analytical Science Knowledge and skills. Delivering for Customers. Why Westinghouse?
