Fixed term contract - temporary Full time - 35 hours per week The School of Physics & Astronomy is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who has the ability to provide first-class specialist technical and engineering support to the Nuclear Physics Research Group, in support of its world-renowned research and teaching activities. The opportunity: This role offers a unique and fantastic opportunity to apply and develop your already well-established engineering, technical, facilities-management, health & safety and project management skills in an exciting and world leading research-intensive environment. You will be able to demonstrate high levels of expertise in the design, manufacture, fault diagnosis and repair of both mainstream and bespoke laboratory apparatus and equipment which will require you to be highly creative and to possess the ability to propose novel solutions to complex and challenging engineering problems. You should also have a keen willingness to learn new and advanced skills and specialist techniques. Having a good understanding of computer aided design (CAD), sheet metal work and the ability to undertake work requiring the use of a range of welding/thermal processes would also be highly desirable.
