We are looking for an experienced and motivated criminal investigator to join this high performing team. About the role The Complex Investigations Team conducts large scale criminal investigations into persistent and/or serious criminal activities, in particular consumer fraud, counterfeiting, scams, and doorstep crime. The role will involve all aspects of criminal investigations including the gathering of evidence of offending/defence, interviewing suspects, drafting witness statements, preparing reports, and schedules of evidence for formal action. You will be part of a dynamic and highly motivated team which includes Trading Standards Officers, Accredited Financial Investigators, and a Victim Safeguarding officer. Although you would be embedded in the investigations team, there will be plenty of opportunities to work across the Service in areas such as intelligence-led disruption activity or early interventions. Our office is based in Ashford with the capability for you to work from home or other KCC offices where appropriate. You will be expected to work across Kent, sometimes further afield and very occasionally during unsociable hours. The candidate You will be an experienced criminal investigator, able to manage a diverse workload, with strong evidence of teamwork and the ability to think outside the box. The post holder must be vetted to an enhanced level (this will be arranged for you). This post is subject to a Basic Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service. This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
