The Role: Our next Senior Reliability Engineer will champion the Customer Experience by driving excellent long-term availability, quality, and system performance on our Product Development Division in Nottingham. With a very high attention to detail, you will be protecting our customers’ interests in all phases of the development. What you will be doing: Assessing and mitigating risks during new product development. Perform reliability analysis and verification/validation tests during new product development. Inform the product development team of reliability testing failures. Working with design, development, process, and manufacturing engineers to assess the risk of a process or design using best practice risk discovery processes. Ongoing reliability champion, assessing field and customer utilization patterns to establish engineering responses to customer utilization for launched products. Hardware and Robustness Testing. Set-up and operate unit-under-test and sophisticated data acquisition systems, test machinery [HALT and Thermal Chambers], post-process data, and report findings to design engineering. Establish a multi-site lab network with plans towards test automation, higher efficiency, consistency for end-to-end testing, and increased throughput and speed of results. Drive capital projects for lab assets including modernization and new equipment commissioning. Create and execute validation tests, working toward test automation, and replicating applications. Develop and implement project test plans. Drive creative, hands-on, electrical/firmware solutions for engineering validation. Support program level design for reliability activities committed in phase/gate process. Working hands-on with Markem-Imaje coders, PC’s, Python, C level coding, and HTML type UI’s. Working hands-on with PLC’s, Arduino, and other electrical hardware. Working on documenting and standardizing tests, processing, and reporting. Providing understandable feedback to electrical, mechanical, and other engineers. Support the quality engineer with “lessons learned” process, so that flaws of previous products are corrected in NPI. Key Requirements Minimum 5 years applied engineering practice and minimum of 3 years’ experience practicing reliability or product testing activities– preferably with an understanding of both manual and automated test methods. Experience with reliability engineering processes such as ALT, HALT, FMEA, MIL STD book. Experience with tools such as Minitab, Reliasoft, test case management tools. Experience with requirements review and test case design. Experience with system integration. Experience with issue management tools e.g. Jira. Engineering background with good understanding of testing electro-mechanical systems (embedded software knowledge is a plus). Very high attention to detail and ability to deliver results in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities. Desire to build quality in from inception. Engagement with field testing/trials. Nice to have: Experience of change management and leadership. Desire to support and mentor others. Knowledge of reliability principles (and/or applied reliability statistics). Excellent communication skills at all levels of the organisation and across functional boundaries with an ability to be able to moderate/gear language to the audience. Ability to coordinate test activities inside a project core team - understanding of Work Breakdown Structure techniques desired.
