This post attracts a 'New Starter' package of £15,000 spread over 3 years as a retention bonus and is also supported by a £12,000 relocation allowance.

The role also attracts a loyalty Scheme Bonus of £2,500 over the subsequent 5 years of service.

CPD is being paid at a higher level with the facility to accumulate annual funding for up to three years to accommodate accessing higher cost development opportunities.

The Trust is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist in Old Age to join a community team for older people. The post is currently vacant after an employment break (Sabbatical) of the previous post holder.

We are looking for someone who will play a key role in the multi-disciplinary team, supporting the management of people with complex needs, through the provision of clinical leadership and advice and support.

The people in our care, families, and carers are at the centre of all aspects of all we do.

Main duties of the job

The postholder's main day-to-day clinical role is providing Consultant Psychiatrist input for the Older Peoples Service.

There is currently one large team working with older people in Central Norfolk Locality, which is split into four sectors, each with a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist. With the advent of Primary Care Networks (PCNs), these sectors are being realigned to support the development of the local PCNs. The post being advertised will serve the Norwich PCN. The all-age population for this sector is 126,905.

The Community Team's core operating hours are 9-5pm. Although the Trust does support flexible working arrangements in agreement with the line manager.

The community team covers three main functions: Memory assessment and treatment services for patients with dementia and other neurodegenerative conditions and core services for people above the age of 70 with various mental disorders without dementia (such as schizophrenia, bipolar affective disorder, and other serious mental disorders) which have associated risks and mental health presentations.
