This is an exciting opportunity to work in the largest hospital trust in the South West Peninsula. We are a teaching hospital in partnership with the Peninsula Medical School and are rapidly developing as a centre for innovation and research. We employ 6400 staff, have more than 900 beds, and over 48,000 people pass through the main entrance of our hospital in a week. In addition, we have an integrated Ministry of Defence Hospital Unit, which has a staff of approximately 250 military personnel.
Main duties of the job The post holder should expect to deliver unscheduled care to a high quality, within our Acute Medical Unit and Emergency Department and will be supported by the wider General Internal Medicine team and will provide comprehensive inpatient management on a general inpatient medical ward.
The post holder will have experience and deliver care to the standard of a CT1 equivalent. The role is well supported, with on-site consultant cover from 8am to 10pm 7 days a week.
The post holder would be expected to participate in the departmental teaching rota and our Quality Improvement Projects / clinical audit. We anticipate that the successful candidate would be working towards Membership of the Royal College of Physicians and would be happy to support them gaining this qualification.
Working Pattern: Long days, evenings, nights and weekends will form part of the rota pattern.
