VAT Accountant
• Job Type: Temporary, initially for 2 weeks (starting in Jan 2025)
• Location: Reigate (driver required due to remote location)
• Hours: 09:30 - 16:30
• Working pattern: Office based in Reigate
• Hourly rate: £22.00 - £24.25 per hour PAYE or £27.53 - £30.41 per hour via an umbrella company.
We are seeking a VAT Accountant to join our team on a temporary basis. This role is crucial for assisting and guiding our team to ensure that we can invoice fees efficiently by the beginning of the second week in December. The ideal candidate will have a robust knowledge of Management Accounts, VAT, and system accounting.
Day-to-day responsibilities:
Research and quickly get up to speed with the requirements on iFinance by reviewing videos and notes prepared for the VAT transition and, if necessary, speaking to the accounting system support team. Liaise with our Auditors to ensure readiness for the VAT transition and complete a matrix of all our income and expenditure, identifying which items are vatable. Create a spreadsheet to track what historical VAT can be reclaimed, including supporting invoices. Train the Purchase Ledger team member on how to apply VAT to invoices. Educate Finance staff on how to submit VAT digital submissions. Address any ad-hoc VAT anomalies that may arise, which are unique to our school. Document every stage in the form of process maps and written procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications: Sound knowledge of Management Accounts, VAT, and system accounting. Experience in creating and managing detailed financial reports and spreadsheets. Strong ability to train and guide team members on VAT application and digital submissions. Excellent communication skills for liaising with various stakeholders, including auditors and support teams. Proven ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities. Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
