Bristol, Manchester, Silchester, or Glasgow (with flexibility for occasional work at client sites) Clearance - SC Clearance is required or ability to Obtain About the Role: We’re looking for an experienced Senior Nuclear Safety Engineer to contribute to critical defence-related projects across the UK. In this role, you’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide leadership in developing safety cases, ensuring the safe delivery of complex nuclear projects, from design and construction to decommissioning. Key Responsibilities: Define and implement nuclear safety case strategies, providing expert guidance throughout project lifecycles. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure designs are informed by safety considerations. Build strong relationships with clients, project teams, and regulatory bodies (e.g., DNSR, ONR) to support efficient and compliant project delivery. Perform comprehensive safety analyses, including HAZID, HAZOP, FMEA, and HAZAN. Prepare detailed safety documentation, such as PSRs, PCSRS, and ALARP reports. Support engineering substantiation processes to meet safety and quality standards. Oversee safety case projects and lead technical teams, ensuring successful outcomes in terms of quality, budget, and timelines. What You’ll Bring: Extensive experience in nuclear safety, particularly within defence or other highly regulated environments. A degree in physics, mechanical engineering, or a similar field, with a minimum classification of 2:1 (or equivalent). Chartered status, or working towards achieving it. Strong engineering knowledge, with a proven ability to apply technical principles and sound judgment. A passion for innovation and problem-solving, particularly with a focus on digital tools and advancements in nuclear safety. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively. A collaborative and approachable nature, capable of fostering strong professional relationships.
