Commodity Researcher - London (Agile working model)

Role Overview: As the Commodity Researcher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Expana’s Data and Analytics function. Reporting to the Strategic Research Lead, you will be identifying and integrating new data that will enrich our database and drive our growth strategy. Your mission? To explore the vast landscape of commodities across both food and non-food categories, identifying and preparing reliable data that will enhance our platform. While researching many different markets, you will have an opportunity to learn about food ingredients, packaging materials, energy, chemicals, shipping among many others. Your curiosity and creativity will be key in transforming data into actionable insights that propel our company forward. Key Responsibilities

Database Development: Enhance our database by sourcing new data aligned with company strategy Data Quality Assessment: Identify, assess quality and process new data in preparation for publication Gap Analysis: Utilise metrics, tools and cross-departmental collaboration to identify data gaps Process Improvement: Creation of simple scripts to extract data from websites or multiple files more efficiently Client Support: Address client queries regarding data and sources Desired Skills and Qualifications:

A university degree, particularly in Economics, Mathematics, Engineering or a related field, would be beneficial A genuine interest in agricultural and industrial commodities Experience with futures market would be beneficial Proven experience working with time series, prices or economic data Strong analytical skills and proficiency in using Excel Strong Python programming skills Ability and experience with data scraping & transformations using programming Excellent attention to detail and an organised approach to work Excellent communication skills including the ability to communicate complex issues in a clear, concise and coherent manner Excellent time management skills with the ability to work in a pressured environment and deliver work to set deadlines Unfortunately, we will not be able to sponsor any candidate for this role.
