In our specialist Design and Engineering Team, we are dedicated to creating innovative and sustainable design solutions that set new industry standards. It is in this innovative team that we have an opportunity for a Technical Sales Engineer, referred to internally as a Pavement Engineer.
So, what's the role?
With the fantastic training and support offered by your manager and the team, you will be putting your stakeholder management and design skills to great use. You will provide engineering and design solutions within the specialist area of Pavement Engineering.
While you’ll be a part of the Design and Engineering team, you’ll also work closely with the external sales teams, becoming the ‘go-to’ for technical design advice. As a real ‘people person’ with fantastic communication skills, you’ll engage with a wide range of customers and internal stakeholders to confidently deliver information. Your customers would include, but not be limited to, landscape architects, consultant engineers, main contractor design teams, local authorities, and housing developers.
Key to success in this area is your ability to balance your technical knowledge while communicating it in an engaging and consultative way; adding value to projects and securing sales with your specialist advice. Your expertise will also be sought to create technical proposals, build and deliver engineering-focused CPD presentations, and provide support to the resolution of on-site issues. Supporting the development of new products, systems, and design methodology will also be part of your role.
You may have worked in an engineering role but have a passion for a more customer-facing career or have experience in a Technical Sales role that hasn’t quite struck the balance on the technical and design aspects you love; this role is the perfect blend of the two.
What skills do you need to bring?
Experience of working in a Technical Sales role, ideally in a similar industry
A proven interest in engineering and design with a natural curiosity
A love of building long and lasting relationships with people at all levels
The ability to manage your own time and priorities efficiently and proactively
A willingness to develop and grow your skills
A Civil Engineering related degree or working towards a relevant professional qualification with a good understanding of construction standards such as DMRB, specification for highway works, BS 7533 Design Standards, SuDS design manuals would be beneficial
A full driving license and the ability to travel throughout the South of England
