Department of Youth Services (DYS)

is seeking a dedicated and experienced social worker to fill the role of Regional Clinician in the Northeast Region of DYS. Located at 33 Gregory Street, Middleton, MA the selected candidate will provide clients with clinical social work services in order to promote and maintain maximum psychosocial functioning. The Regional Clinician will be an integral member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team, perform intake and eligibility functions, perform diagnostic evaluations, develop and implement treatment, habilitation, rehabilitation, crisis, transfer, and/or discharge plans. Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive): Assist Northeast Program Clinical Directors in developing behavior management systems and consult as needed on individual youth treatment concerns. Provide clients with direct social services, including casework, group work, or other relevant therapeutic models and/or provide assessment, intake, and referral services. Become certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy within six months of hire. Provide clinical groups on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and substance abuse prevention with department-approved curriculums. Monitor and support Dialectical Behavioral Therapy adherence and clinical program compliance to meet clinical standards in all programs. Review all 68a evaluations for final approval by the Regional Clinical Coordinator (RCC). Assist the RCC in designing and providing training for case work, clinical, and program staff in the Region. Assist the RCC through collaboration with the Director of Substance Abuse in the providing of prevention, assessment, treatment and recovery services for residential and community youth. Attend Inter-Agency, casework team, and residential program team meetings in the Northeast Region. Review clinical documents including clinical assessments, Relapse Prevention Plans, treatment plans, and Individual Service Treatment Plans. Determine appropriate transition and discharge plans and identify the availability and need for resources. Convey information and explain actions to clients with varying expectations, needs, cultures and languages and determine the best means to inform clients concerning what actions will be initiated on their cases. In some instances, clients may be involuntary, hostile and resistant. Required Qualifications: At least 3 years experience in Clinical Social Work. Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work or job issue problems. Identify the things that must be changed to achieve a goal as well as determining the long-term outcomes of a change in operations. Develop approaches for implementing an idea and weighing the cost and benefits of a potential action. Understanding and applying relevant laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, and agency rules. Aptitude to combine, evaluate, and reason information and data to make decisions and solve problems in order to make decisions concerning the relative importance of information and choosing the best solution. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Suicide Prevention/Intervention Strategies. Knowledge of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and working with sexual offenders. Strong clinical and organizational skills directly related to the functions of the Department of Youth Services. Demonstrated knowledge of the Revocation system utilized by DYS, and the goals and objectives of DYS. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Considerable knowledge of State laws pertaining to juvenile laws and juvenile rights as well as juvenile/adult corrections.
