The salary for this CEO position will be determined on a commensurate with experience basis. This approach allows us to tailor the compensation package to align with the successful candidate's unique qualifications, expertise, and leadership track record.

Mountbatten hospice group is a leading provider of palliative and end-of-life care in the UK, supporting 4,000 individuals at any one time, across parts of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. We exist to promote and to provide good care and support for those people living with, affected by, or curious about death, dying and bereavement. We are the largest organisation of our kind in the region, with a budget of over £20m and serving a population of over 700,000; and with 200% growth in the number of people we are supporting in the last four years. We have worked in partnership to invest significantly in our 24/7 community-based services and care coordination centres, enabling us to expand our reach and the number of people we can support at any one time. We have been recognised at the Hospice UK Awards for both our innovative work in community services and championing digital technology. Community engagement is key to enabling us to meet the diverse needs of our population. We are proud of the role our two hospice buildings play in our local communities, providing welcoming and vibrant spaces with a wide range of activities and services, which complement our inpatient units. As part of our offer we provide a wide range of bereavement and therapy services, alongside a focus on encouraging advanced care planning and enabling people to feel able to talk about death and dying more openly. Our successful ‘Walk the Wight’ event is one example of how important fundraising is to our strategy, attracting over 9000 participants and raising over half a million pounds annually. We also have a successful retail trading arm with ambitious plans to further grow our commercial and fundraising activities. All of our impact is made possible by our dedicated team of staff, volunteers, and supporters, who share our commitment to kindness, respect, innovation, and expertise. With a strong foundation and an exciting future ahead, we are seeking an ambitious, strategic, and compassionate individual to lead Mountbatten as its next Chief Executive Officer, following the decision of our current CEO to retire in 2025 after ten successful years. This person will work with the Board of Trustees, staff, volunteers, supporters and partners to implement Mountbatten’s vision, providing highly visible and strategic leadership to nurture a culture of excellence, agility, and compassion, and acting as a prominent ambassador for Mountbatten, ensuring that we continue to lead the way in the hospice sector. The ideal candidate will be a bold, decisive, and innovative leader with a strong understanding of the health and social care landscape, clinical services and a passion for palliative care and end of life services. They will bring sound financial acumen and a strong understanding of how to develop and sustain a diverse range of income streams, including commissioned services, commercial activity and fundraising. They will also bring senior leadership experience within a complex organisation, exceptional communication skills and a track record of delivering impactful strategies. Candidates will also bring a demonstrable empathy and passion for the mission and values of Mountbatten, with the ability to motivate and empower staff and volunteers to achieve our vision. Mountbatten’s people actively live by a set of shared values which shape how we work and volunteer together. We are an inclusive organisation and we continuously seek to embrace everyone within our diverse community. We therefore warmly encourage applications from a broad range of backgrounds and experiences. Saxton Bampfylde Ltd is acting as an employment agency advisor to the Mountbatten hospice group on this appointment.
