This role is based in The Quadrant:MK. This role is a full-time opportunity, flexible working patterns will be considered. For Quadrant:MK, you must live within 90 minutes of The Quadrant.

Band & Salary:

Band 3C £55,596 - £63,797

We are looking for someone who has passion for quality financial reporting with a keen attention to detail. We would like to recruit someone who is empowered to bring change and improvement and build on a solid platform to produce best in class financial reporting.

About the role (External)

About the team..

As a Senior Financial Accountant, you will work with Head of Accounting, to deliver professional finance and accounting advice. This role in Group Finance presents a unique opportunity to be part of the team that take the accounts through Audit and the Board. The accounts are published on the London Stock Exchange with the accounts also being laid in Parliament. You will play a key role in this process. These accounts are essential to support the delivery of our multi-billion pound Railway Upgrade Plan. This saw us invest over £6.8bn in the year to 31 March 2024. As Rail Reform continues, this role provides a lot of scope for involvement in shaping the industry.

What does the role look like?

Produce initial drafts of the group consolidation for year end and interim accounts and produce and update the final financial statements. Calculate corporate balances, including pensions charge and deficit, insurance prepayments and accruals and interest projections. Be a key contact for the group auditors. Be the expert in the function on accounting practices and advise on financial results and forecasts for stakeholders and the impact of the accounting treatment. Manage corporate governance throughout the cost centres they manage, conducting deep dives and reviewing compliance with financial regulations to protect the business from legal or negative consequences. Assist the tax team with preparation of tax returns across the business and other ad hoc tax queries (No tax experience is necessary). Prepared to get involved in various ad-hoc projects as they take place.
