Do you wish to help shape the future of Urgent and Emergency care services in Wales? If so, we are looking to appoint a National Clinical Director to the National 6 Goals for Urgent and Emergency Care Programme team initially on a 2 year secondment basis. This is a key and exciting role which will act as the senior clinical voice for the National 6 Goals programme. The post holder will have responsibility for clinical leadership, advice and engagement and will be professionally accountable for the clinical leads within the 6 Goals National Programme Team. The successful post holder must hold current GMC registration and either be on the specialist register or GP register. The successful candidate will be appointed on 6-8 sessions per week to allow for some ongoing clinical commitments and will retain their existing terms and conditions of employment. Main duties of the job

The National 6 Goals for Urgent and Emergency Care (U&EC) Programme, part of the NHS Wales Executive, is an All-Wales Health Board-led programme that is co-designed by clinical and professional leads spanning the urgent and emergency care pathway. These goals represent the outcomes we expect for people who need to access urgent and emergency care. Successful delivery of the goals should enable optimal experience and outcomes for our local population and staff. The National Six Goals for Urgent and Emergency Care Programme has been established to support Local Health Boards and their partners to transform and improve delivery of urgent and emergency services to the people in Wales. The post holder will provide senior clinical leadership and advice for the redesign of many components of the U&EC system to support wholescale system improvement in the quality, safety and performance of local healthcare services in line with the Policy direction and objectives of the Programme. Qualification/Knowledge

Educated to degree and post graduate level within a clinical discipline appropriate to urgent or emergency care. Registered medical practitioner either on the specialist register or the GP register. Substantial understanding and knowledge of healthcare within the urgent & emergency care environment. Experience

Senior clinical leadership experience in the NHS, operating at or close to Board level. Qualified healthcare professional with an unblemished General Medical Council registration with appropriate regulatory body. Experienced clinician with credibility and the ability to command the respect of other clinical and non-clinical professionals. Significant experience in leadership at a strategic, tactical and operational level with evidence of continued professional development. Proven ability to think and articulate a clear sense of direction and vision. Track record of leading and delivering major change programme to transform clinical services. Experience of operating in complex, highly political environments. Skills/Attributes

Professional and personal credibility, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships. Excellent written and verbal presentation and communications skills. Excellent interpersonal skills with emphasis on influence, tact, diplomacy, negotiation and persuasion. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
