Ward Descriptions

E3:

E3 Green is a 24 bedded ward that specialises in caring for both cardiology and cardiac surgery patients, providing a wide-ranging experience of caring for patients with heart disease. Our team collaborates with E3 Blue, our neighbouring ward, having a combined leadership and senior team, which means you have a wide support network. We receive patients directly from Cardiac High Dependency (CHDU), Coronary Care Unit (CCU), and Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU), as well as elective cases and transfers from other hospitals. E4:

A 20 bedded Thoracic ward that cares for patients requiring thoracic investigation and surgery who are admitted on either an elective or emergency basis. Examples of patients include those with lung cancer requiring surgical intervention, individuals with recurrent pleural effusions and pneumothoraces, and patients following thoracic traumas. Our education, training, and development team works alongside individuals and teams in practice during core hours. Formal teaching sessions and study days are available, as well as advice on academic pathways and career planning. Successful candidates will be provided with a supernumerary period, unit induction sessions, bedside coaching, and a competency-based programme to support career progression. You will receive yearly appraisals to ensure ongoing development, and the management team is approachable to address any queries that staff may have. Person Specification

Qualified Nurse (Degree/Diploma) Registered nurse on appropriate part of the register Knowledge of current issues within acute Health Service Understanding of personal accountability Knowledge of own role within the team Evidence of teaching and supporting learners in practice as a practice supervisor Awareness of evidence-based practice Able to use initiative Evidence of recent study Previous experience/qualification in relevant specialty Teaching experience Trust Values
