The Role:

The purpose of this role is to ensure project requirements or aspects of project requirements are completed on time, within budget and to the required quality standard, whilst building and maintaining strong client relationships. Its remit stretches through supplier selection and evaluation, to direct delivery of engineering/design scope for selected projects. The Project Engineer combines a solid generalist understanding of a wide range of engineering disciplines, enabling the role to deliver integrated design solutions of high complexity and to oversee value engineering and delivery at project level. Main Responsibilities:

Engineering:

Ensures design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications and legislation. Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling and resolving engineering design problems/obstacles. Provides support to the Engineering Project Manager in control of expenditures within limitations of project budget. Approves supplier/subcontractor documentation on behalf of the Engineering Project Manager. Prepares basis of estimates for changes and work as part of the project team to ensure that these are coordinated and delivered on time. Reports on project technical scope performance against the baseline plan and stated benefits of the project. Ensures co-ordination between all aspects of engineering, design work construction and manufacturing for delivery on site. Quality:

Works in conjunction with the Engineering Project Manager to ensure that all engineering works meet the quality and HSE requirements of the contract. Ensures that design and construction reviews are carried out in accordance with company and customer procedures. Works in conjunction with the Engineering Project Manager to ensure adequate resources, in terms of quality and quantity, are available to ensure efficient and timely execution of activities in line with the schedule. Works within the time schedules, man-hour budgets, project policies, and specifications established for the project or contract. Ensures that the technical team and any third party technical contractors adhere to the overall project quality plan provided by the Engineering Project Manager throughout the project lifecycle. Ensures that the technical team and any third party technical contractors are security cleared, suitably qualified and experienced for the designated task or role. Accountability:

Manages interfaces with outside bodies and internal stakeholders with a degree of autonomy. Builds and maintains customer relationships throughout the project, handling enquiries and maintaining communication flows. Conducts and records customer interface and or contractor interface meetings as required. Ensures technical risks are agreed and regularly reviewed with the Engineering Project Manager. Experience & Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years’ experience working across full design project lifecycle experience. Minimum 5 years Project Engineer experience. Minimum 3 years working within multi-cultural Engineering teams. Demonstrable success in Project Engineer role(s). Proven leadership experience and ability to work with minimum supervision in highly regulated environments. (Nuclear industry experience desirable). Must be eligible to obtain SC Clearance. Educated to Degree level in a relevant engineering discipline preferred. Professional qualification e.g. (Professional Engineer PE), (IEng/CEng) (EUR ING) (where applicable). Project Management Qualification / Accreditation such as APM, PMI would be beneficial.
