London Description McBains are looking for a Building Physics Consultant to help design sustainable buildings, reducing the energy and CO2 emissions from the building. Liaising closely with the MEPH building Services Designers, Architects, and Structural Engineers to ensure compliance with Part L and beyond, you will join our London-based MEP team. Key Responsibilities Preparation of design and site supervision of mechanical and electrical building services with regard to recommendations for energy-efficient design. Carrying out Part L calculations and simulation/building modelling to determine the suitability of systems and fabric. Thermal modelling of buildings. Part L - SBEM Calculations and advising the design team of implications. Part L - SAP calculations and advising the design team of implications. Carry out and analyze TM52 models. Carry out and analyze TM59 models. Reviewing and advising the design team on low carbon and renewable technology. Value engineering analysis. Added value to the design. Carry out troubleshooting exercises associated with energy consumption and the provision of suitable internal conditions, surveys, reports, schedules of dilapidation, and feasibility reports. Preparing Sustainability and energy reports for projects in accordance with local authorities' requirements. Review Passivhaus Principles for projects. Integrate with the design team to engineer practical solutions. Use of TAS/IES design software and SAP software (Elmhurst). Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Understanding of MEPH Building Services Design. Use of SAP calculation software. Use of TAS/IES works. Building construction technology. Building regulations. Standard forms of contract. Project management and commercial skills.
