Financial Accountant Leicester Job Purpose (Key Accountabilities): Our client, a highly successful Leicester-based manufacturer & distribution group, is seeking a qualified accountant to take full ownership and responsibility for the statutory accounts and group taxation, including assisting the Head of Group Finance in developing the level of service provided to the business by the department. Main Duties/Responsibilities: To take full responsibility for all elements of the Group's statutory accounts including preparation of individual and consolidated accounts and liaising with auditors and tax advisers; To be responsible for the compliance and reporting of the Group's VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax, and other taxes in the UK and in other countries as relevant; To be responsible for all aspects of the Company’s payroll including preparation of Managers' payroll; To develop the Group’s sustainability reporting; To assist the Head of Group Finance in the production of annual company and departmental budgets; To be a key player in the use and proactive development of the Company’s core business system (Business Central/Nav); To liaise with external bodies: HM Customs & Excise, HMRC, Payroll Bureau, External Auditors, customers, and suppliers. Other Duties: To challenge the accepted practices of the organisation with a view to recommending best practice; To participate in ad hoc projects as required; To champion continuous improvement in the department; To provide cover for the production of monthly management accounts as and when required. Key Skills & Knowledge: Solid technical accounting knowledge; Experience of preparing financial accounts including consolidation; Experience of UK taxation of companies; Knowledge of import/export regulations and taxation is desirable; Knowledge of personal tax (to assist with employee and director queries) would be beneficial; Able to adapt to, implement and manage change. Key Competencies: Ability to move between attention to detail and looking at the big picture; Good communication skills (verbal & written); Appetite for continuous learning/improvement; Proactive/takes initiative; Able to work well as part of a team; Ability to manage multiple & conflicting deadlines. Qualifications: Chartered Accountant (ICAEW/ACCA); Some post qualification experience required. Salary and Benefits: c.
