The Job Mission As a Field Engineer/Welding Inspector, you will oversee critical quality assurance tasks on the Hinkley Point C (HPC) project, ensuring construction activities align with contractual and safety requirements. Working closely with site teams, you'll uphold Assystem’s commitment to nuclear safety and quality. Perform surveillance of contractor activities to ensure compliance with work standards. Identify and mitigate potential quality issues, supporting on-time project delivery. Submit and document non-conformance reports as needed. Review and monitor Quality Control Plans and Inspection Records. Collaborate with construction and quality teams to ensure design decisions follow formal processes. Evaluate contractor performance and adherence to standards. Contribute to health, safety, and environmental objectives across site operations. Ensure documentation and reporting align with regulatory and quality requirements. Qualifications
Required Skills and Qualifications Essential Skills Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Welding Inspector qualification (CSWIP 3.1 or equivalent). Knowledge of NDT and Quality Management practices. Experience in power plant construction, including pressure systems and structural steel. Familiarity with British/European standards and design codes like RCC-M, ASME, and BS EN. Proven QA/QC experience and ability to document findings concisely and accurately. Strong organisational, delegation, and communication skills. Desired Skills Advanced welding and NDT qualifications (CSWIP 3.2, PCN, IWS, etc.). Experience in large infrastructure projects, particularly nuclear. Knowledge of safety-critical documentation like Inspection and Test Plans. Proficiency in French (advantageous). Familiarity with punchlist checks and civil/mechanical interfaces.
