Our Water Quality & Environment Team have an opportunity for you to join as our new Flow Compliance Specialist. In your new role, you’ll be expected to take responsibility for company-level compliance to dynamic external reporting demands. The role holder will be required to analyse, understand and interpret complex regulatory frameworks, translating them into actionable guidelines ready for practical application by operational teams. You will also be expected to continuously drive tangible improvement in our reporting and compliance standards. As well as being expected to manage multiple demanding priorities at any one time and be skilled at managing expectations outside the team. Key Accountabilities

Responsible for driving gold standard company-level compliance throughout the year in line with our dynamic external reporting commitments, adapting to both internal and external demands at pace. Responsible for ensuring we have effective processes and procedures in place to consistently deliver compliance and a strong audit trail for a high-quality year-end annual return. Accountable for understanding and manipulating large datasets from a variety of sources to identify trends, opportunities & risks to compliance and performance at pace. Delivering an excellent level of insight into flow data, not just presenting this to the business but turning this into practical application and influencing the business to drive and deliver the opportunities. Take ownership for potential improvement opportunities including understanding the size of that opportunity, liaising with key stakeholders, securing buy-in and if relevant, implementing these improvements within the team and wider business. Analyse, understand and interpret complex regulatory frameworks, translating them into actionable guidelines for operational teams. Responsible for driving adherence to those operational processes and guidelines through exception reporting and influencing senior stakeholders and front line teams. Building and maintaining effective and successful relationships with regulatory bodies including the Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales and OFWAT. Work alongside wider business teams to develop, improve and adapt the relevant compliance dashboards to meet ever-changing demands and needs. Benchmark with the wider water industry to identify and implement best practices and use experience and knowledge to influence future regulation. Act as the subject matter expert for all elements of MCERTS flow measurement and flow reporting, including compliance to permit conditions. Understand and drive opportunities for improvements in both our EPA measures and the Water Quality ODI. WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

To be successful in this role, it is expected that you’ll have knowledge of experience of flow monitoring, experience of external assurance and regulatory reporting under scrutiny including audit attendance and be proficient in using PowerBI and Microsoft Excel to analyse, manipulate and report on complex datasets to identify trends and insight. If you have a strong technical knowledge of waste processes (Networks and Recycling) and working in operational and regulatory environments or knowledge and understanding of the MCERTS Self Monitoring of Flow scheme and how to apply this, this would be desirable.
