NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society. NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board. We will fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long-term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices. Senior Research Nurse

Haematology Clinical Trials Base: SE Scottish Cancer Research Network, Department of Oncology, Western General Hospital, Edinburgh The use of the term Senior in this post refers only to the level of experience and responsibility required for this post rather than age. As such, applications from people of all ages are welcomed, subject to meeting the relevant criteria. Applications are invited for a full-time research nurse to support the Haematology Research Team within the Scottish Cancer Research Network. You will be responsible for the recruitment, care and treatment of patients involved in a variety of clinical trials. The post holder will need to work with a high degree of independence, interpreting protocols and caring for this patient group. You will work closely with other research nurses, clinicians, data managers and the multidisciplinary team throughout the SCAN region. This involves attendance and input at multidisciplinary meetings and clinics. Occasional travel out with Edinburgh to study meetings or to other hospitals in the region may be required. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated nurse with experience in a related specialty who would like the opportunity to work within the Scottish Cancer Research Network. You should ideally have experience in clinical research and be educated to degree level (or working towards). The post holder should have excellent inter-personal and communication skills, knowledge of the research process including ICH/GCP guidelines, and evidence of continuous personal, professional and academic development. Attention to detail is essential and IT skills would be advantageous. You must be able to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to an ever-changing working environment. This is an exposure prone post. Informal visits are strongly encouraged. If you would like to arrange this or discuss the post in more detail, please contact Rachael MacAngus on 0131 537 1254 or rachael.macangus@nhs.scot. This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
