This is an outstanding opportunity for an enthusiastic Teacher of Mathematics to join a large, forward-thinking and high-achieving department, in an outstanding School. Over 300 Hampton boys study Mathematics in the Sixth Form, of whom 120 take Further Mathematics. The Department is renowned as one of the best in the country. Our young mathematicians have in recent years been crowned champions in the prestigious UK Maths Team Challenge and the Hans Woyda competition, they excel in individual competitions such as the British Maths Olympiad and many go on to read Mathematics at top Universities. The School is proud of its large and vibrant Mathematics Department who are all passionate about their subject and help ensure every boy achieves to the best of his ability. In this academically selective school, the challenges include stretching the most able up to Oxbridge level, therefore the ability to teach Mathematics up to and including Further Mathematics and Oxbridge entrance with confidence is desirable but not essential. The successful candidate will be expected to teach up to 30 (40 minute) lessons per week, which would usually include a games afternoon and a form tutor period. A contribution to the wider life of the School is also expected from staff at Hampton. Hampton is rated 'exceptional' by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) for pupils’ achievements and learning. Inspectors also praised the School for fostering a culture ‘in which the individual matters and everyone’s contribution is valued.’ Equality, diversity and inclusion are fundamental to our ethos and the School has a thriving partnerships programme. The School has its own salary scale and offers generous non-contractual benefits, well above the maintained sector, to attract high-calibre candidates. Accommodation may also be available for the successful applicant. There is a very strong commitment at Hampton to supporting the continuing professional development of colleagues. The Department

Due to the popularity of the subject in Sixth Form, along with the number of pupils taking Further Mathematics, we have a staff of 24 teachers, who are all passionate about their subject. The Hampton Mathematics department is one of the biggest in the country, and our collective goal is to help each individual reach their potential. There is a broad mix of experienced teachers and those nearer the beginning of their careers. The Department has a strong team feeling, with staff fully involved in developing policy and taking responsibility for various areas of the Mathematics curriculum and the running of the Department. Sixth Form Mathematics

There are currently over 300 boys taking Mathematics in the Sixth Form in 20 A Level sets and 11 Further Mathematics sets. Exam Results

In 2024, 95% of boys achieved 8/9 (A*) grades at IGCSE Mathematics, 79% achieved A/A* at A Level and 78% achieved A/A* in Further Mathematics. Mathematics at Key Stages 3 and 4

Mathematics is taught in Form groups in the First and Second Years. These groups are mixed ability (within the narrow limits of the selective nature of the intake). Extension and support classes supplement the provision. There is semi-setting in the Third Year and full setting in the Fourth and Fifth Years. Eleven sets will take Edexcel IGCSE. The top six sets will also take AQA Level 2 Further Mathematics. Accommodation and ICT

There is a large departmental office, with work areas, suitable reference books, teaching materials and supplies of examination papers and worksheets. All classrooms are equipped with interactive white boards and all teachers are provided with a laptop.
