An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our well-established Acute Oncology Nursing 7 day service. Our team provide expert support and advice to cancer patients with complications due to cancer or treatment, whether they are presenting to ED, admitted to the trust or at home, via our telephone triage service. We provide a vital link between patients and clinicians within our trust as well as the Oncology centre at Weston Park Hospital in Sheffield. Main duties of the job
Successful candidates will provide specialist support and advice to patients with Cancer of unknown primary acting as their Keyworker. They would oversee and co-ordinate services and personalise the cancer pathway for these patients from pre-diagnosis to aftercare. We are looking for an innovative, forward-thinking nurse who is highly motivated to improve practice with our fast-developing Acute Oncology Service. About us

Knowledge and Experience
Extensive post-registration experience with experience in a Band 6 role Experience within an Oncology setting Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team Able to accommodate the demands of the post with flexible working as required and good attendance Precise and methodical in working practice and able to work under own initiative Resourceful and able to work autonomously Specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and experience Experience within an Acute Oncology setting Experience of leading service development and reviews together with managing operational role Qualifications and Training
First level Registered Nurse - current registration Up to date knowledge of professional issues Non-medical prescribing or willingness to do Evidence of mandatory training updates APACS qualification or willingness to do Teaching and Assessing Qualifications Certificate in Acute Oncology Personal Attributes and Skills
Excellent communication skills, including written and presentations Ability to deal with highly distressing or emotional circumstances Compassionate, demonstrating a patient-centred approach to care Advanced Communication Course Disclosure and Barring Service Check
