Using a variety of tools and equipment to carry out tasks such as small projects and operation of plant and equipment. Providing response to flood and environmental incidents inside and outside of normal working hours by participating, training and exercising. Deploying sandbags, temporary barriers, mobile pumps and pollution equipment. Carrying out regular checks and inspections of equipment, such as tools, personal protective equipment and vehicles. Communicating professionally with our partners and members of the public. You'll participate in our 24-hour call-out rosters, responding with your team to operate assets, playing an active role in protecting homes and businesses from flood risk. The Operations Field Teams operate on a 9-day fortnight.

Experience with plant and machinery and a foundation of practical skills such as power tool operation and minor construction work. An environmental awareness. Experience in asset operation or maintenance. An understanding of site health and safety requirements. Basic understanding of IT, including smart phones and tablets, and willing to learn our in-house systems. Full driving licence. Live within 45 minutes' drive of your local depot. It would be helpful, but not essential, if you: Have people management or leadership skills, and experience leading small teams. Previous field experience. A comprehensive package of skills training and personal development will be provided to meet the needs of the role, including the Environment Agency's Water Environment Worker apprenticeship scheme, which you'll be enrolled on and given support to complete.
