Working as part of a growing design team, responsible for civil engineering designs for all aspects of substation construction, including 11kV to 132kV substation design work. The role will also provide civil design support to the wider design team. Main Responsibilities

Develop civil engineering designs for infrastructure such as substation foundations, access roads, drainage systems, and structural supports. Create detailed drawings, specifications, and construction plans using CAD software. Conduct feasibility studies, site surveys, and risk assessments. Ensure designs comply with relevant regulations, standards, and safety codes. Collaborate with other design engineers to integrate civil works with overall project designs. Liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget. Prepare and review project documentation, including method statements and technical reports. Provide technical guidance & support during both the tendering and the construction phase of projects & assist in resolving on-site issues. Carry out design risk assessments. Stay updated on UK-specific regulations (e.g. DNO, iDNO, BS, EN, Eurocodes) and ensure adherence. Ensure designs align with local planning requirements and industry best practices. Person Specification

Qualifications A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field. Professional engineering status (or working towards) such as chartered engineer would be of benefit but is not essential. Experience Minimum of 4 years civil engineering experience within the electrical power or related construction industries. (e.g. rail industry). Cloud based document control systems. Experience of BIM would be an advantage, but not essential. Previous substation design experience would be advantageous, but candidates with experience in other related construction industry industries will be considered. Skills Experience in the use of Autocad &/or other similar CAD software. Experience in the use of civil engineering design software. Experience of working with cloud-based document control platforms. Knowledge of commercial/contractual issues. Good written, verbal communication & interpersonal skills. Good personal management, decision making & problem-solving skills. Good computer literacy, including use of Microsoft office-based applications (e.g. word, excel & outlook). Full UK driving licence. About Us
