We are currently seeking an experienced

Structural Stress Engineer Lead

to join a team in Manchester or Bristol. As a Structural Stress Lead, you will play a crucial role in the design and analysis of aerospace and defence structures, with a specific focus on Marine Seating, leading experienced structural analysis engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide leadership and line management to the team, coordinating and overseeing their workloads, providing support to ensure that the team delivers, monitoring any issues, and ensuring timescales, KPIs and deadlines are met in order to meet the requirements of the customer. Act independently at the organisational level, being self-supervising, within guidance and expectations of customers. Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice engineering vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance. Lead experienced stress engineers, coordinate with customers for key inputs, and communicate with the team to deliver high standards. Participate in internal and external stress reviews and be responsible for the stress report acceptance by the client. Conduct structural analysis and stress calculations for marine seating systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. Perform finite element analysis (FEA using ANSYS) and other advanced engineering techniques to evaluate structural integrity and performance. Generate detailed technical reports and documentation to communicate analysis results and recommendations. Participate in design reviews and provide technical expertise to support the development and improvement of marine seating systems. Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to structural stress analysis and marine seating.

Required Skills (Technical Competency):

Proficient in Stress Analysis packages (e.g., ANSYS, Altair HyperMesh, and ABAQUS), ideally ANSYS. Experience in the analysis of complex engineering structures. Expert knowledge in conventional (hand calculation) techniques for static analysis. Proficient knowledge of numerical (finite element) techniques for static analysis. Experience in structural analysis of mechanical components, parts, assemblies, and subassemblies for the marine industry (e.g., seating). Familiarity with structural analysis practices and methodologies, including significant structural redesigns.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in marine engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Previous experience in a similar role within the marine industry. Experience in marine engineering industry, structure analysis, seats, materials, etc. Strong knowledge of quality management systems and industry standards. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and continuous improvement. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
