Applications Testing Engineer

We are looking for an onsite Windows 11 Applications Engineer, on a 6-month fixed term contract, to support applications testing, defect identification, and resolution for our Windows 11 ecosystem. The role requires hands-on experience with Windows 11 OS, expertise in applications troubleshooting and defect resolution, and effective collaboration skills to ensure smooth application functionality and performance.

Main duties of the job Conduct comprehensive testing on applications in Windows 11 to ensure compatibility and performance. Identify, document, and prioritise defects using defect-tracking tools and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues. Contribute to the Windows 11 upgrade project as an applications testing and validation engineer. Develop and enhance testing methodologies, produce and troubleshoot test scripts, and document processes. Application readiness testing: Scans applications for compatibility issues and provides recommendations for resolution. Apply suggested fixes to create new versions of the applications when required. Responsible for scheduling workload in conjunction with the IT Technical Services Manager. Work with third party support contacts to resolve technical problems with desktop computing software applications to minimise disruption to customer systems. Accurately document and maintain records of testing of the different applications. Deliver a high standard of customer service in a professional manner. Reach out to departments to confirm applications are used and arrange testing.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Degree or equivalent IM&T qualification or equivalent experience. ITIL or equivalent Foundation level.

Desirable Microsoft Certified Engineer.

Experience Essential Experience of working with Windows OS (preferably Windows 11) and knowledge of configuration, testing, and installation software. Experience of applications testing for compatibility with the latest version of Microsoft's operating systems.

Desirable Knowledge of ICT applications and related processes used in NHS clinical care setting including Microsoft Office applications, clinical information systems, and other software.

Knowledge Essential Experience of creating test scripts for new or updated software applications.

Desirable Knowledge/awareness of application development process.

Skills Essential Excellent customer and interpersonal skills. Self-motivated and able to motivate others. Able to solve complex technical problems. Well organised with excellent documentation skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to create reports (e.g. Performance - exception - technical).

Desirable Project management skills. Anti-virus.
