About us
Biosciences is one of the world's foremost centres for research and teaching in the biological sciences and one of the largest Divisions within UCL, undertaking a significant amount of research and teaching. The Division has a diverse portfolio addressing all areas of biology from protein interactions to cell function, organism development, genetics, population studies and the environment. Computational modelling approaches are frequently used alongside experimental research programmes and much of our research crosses traditional boundaries, including the relationship of biodiversity to the health of the planet. Activity is underpinned by high calibre science technology platforms and state of the art equipment. Educational activity includes a range of undergraduate programmes, an expanding number of Masters Programmes and a substantial number of postgraduate research students.
This is an exciting opportunity to become a Lecturer in the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology (CDB), one of four departments in the Division of Biosciences.
The successful candidate will take an active role in CDB, developing international standard, competitive research programmes, conducting teaching and training of undergraduate and postgraduate students, and supporting CDB's vision of creating an impact on the life of the University and the society.
About the role
The main purpose of this position is to carry out world-class research in the area of computational cell biology, teach at undergraduate and/or graduate level and contribute to the e-learning platform SysMIC, engage in knowledge transfer and/or public engagement activities and contribute to the achievement of UCL's strategic goals.
This role may be eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 80% on site.

About you
You will produce high quality publications or other research outputs, generate external income to support this research programme, participate in departmental, divisional and Faculty seminars as appropriate, share research outcomes and build interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the Division, provide training and supervision for research students, develop productive links with staff undertaking relevant research across UCL and establish external collaborations both nationally and internationally. You will undertake computational teaching in areas allocated, contribute to the development, planning and implementation of a high-quality curriculum, add expertise and provide leadership in development of the degree programme and assist in the development, planning and implementation of SysMIC.
You will engage in a range of knowledge transfer and/or public engagement activities and contribute to the achievement of UCL's strategic goals by participating in Departmental and Divisional activities.
You must have a relevant qualification (PhD in a quantitative discipline) with proven knowledge of its application to computational cell, systems, or neurobiology. Experience in teaching and research supervision on relevant undergraduate and/or postgraduate programmes is also essential.
