Main Purpose of Role:
Woods Air Movement have an exciting new opportunity to recruit a high calibre Quality Engineer reporting to the MoD business unit leader. This role is part of a key pillar of the business in a dedicated and motivated team to deliver into strategic defence contracts. The Quality Engineer will play a key role in supporting the business growth and quality management, supporting the strategic plan of the business by delivering quality assurance.
The Quality Engineer will be accountable for monitoring and ensuring inhouse and supplier quality. The candidate will need to be able to demonstrate an ability to work with our multifunctional organisation to find solutions to the bid/project needs. The candidate should show the skills required to provide quality assurance of project deliverables and drive the organisation culture towards a zero-defect mentality.
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, a team player, a confident self-starter with drive to deliver change. They will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Ensure the quality of product fulfils project requirements
Monitor the quality of internally and externally manufactured components
Lead internal and customer 8D compilation
Make regular visits to customers and suppliers to review quality performance
Work with suppliers on quality issues to prevent reoccurrence and continuous improvement
Engage in quality improvement activities
Gather and analyse key production quality data and act on trends
Maintain the Supplier Scorecard and associated monitoring systems for both internal and external use
Actively partake in any NPI or Process FMEA activities relating to Quality Assurance
Conduct Internal Audits in line with ISO 9001 and 14001 Standards
Host visitors for external audits or inspections
Work with other Woods Air Movement Departments to promote continuous improvement

Person Specification/Profile:
HNC/Degree in an Engineering Discipline, relevant QA Qualification or equivalent
Proven background in Quality Assurance
Knowledge and awareness of quality procedures
Awareness of ISO 9001
Lead creation and review of inspection and control plans
Good knowledge of Quality tools and 8D methodology
Internal Auditor qualified or willing to undertake training
Good problem solving skills
Strong communication, negotiation and diplomacy skills
Be able to produce accurate documentation
High level analytical abilities
Excellent persuasion and presentation skills
Pro-active self-starter, capable of working on own initiative
Strong inter-personal skills and ability to work at all levels of the organisation
Awareness of manufacturing processes and Lean Manufacturing principles
Strong judgment & prioritisation skills
Employs a methodical and structured approach to tasks
Innovative and enquiring character, willing to challenge thought processes

Please note, for this position you must be able to pass an initial Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS).
