Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and committed pharmacy technician to lead on the delivery of a high-quality clinical pharmacy service to our inpatients at Queen's Hospital. Working as the specialist pharmacy technician for clinical services you will lead and manage pharmacy technicians across a variety of specialities, linking in with the clinical care group lead pharmacists and the Chief Pharmacy Technician and Deputy, to maintain and develop the clinical pharmacy services provided to our wards and patients.
The successful candidate will have good interpersonal and communication skills and good computer literacy.
The position demands a well-organised person, who can multi-task and demonstrate ability to manage a team as well as meet the deadlines and demands of a busy acute hospital trust. Main duties of the job
Clinical Service Provision:
Lead a dedicated team of pharmacy technicians to deliver a safe, efficient, and high-quality medicines management service for our patients. This role focuses on ensuring excellence in patient care while driving the ongoing development of both the service and the team. Develop and Update SOPs:
Create, implement, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in relation to the clinical services, ensuring adherence across various clinical areas. Training & Development:
Train staff in all aspects of medicines management and clinical services whilst developing the knowledge and skills of pharmacy technician and pharmacy assistant workforce who provide it. This includes Trainee Pharmacists, Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians and rotational Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Assistants. Audit and Reporting:
Lead and conduct audit/improvement projects to develop the clinical pharmacy services as well as monitor the performance of the team in line with key performance indicators. Person Specification Education/Qualifications Essential:
Registered with GPhC Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician Qualification Accreditation in Medicines Management or equivalent Desirable:
Education Supervisor qualification Skills/Abilities Essential:
Excellent managerial, leadership and organisational skills. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with seniors, peers and multidisciplinary teams. Demonstrates attention to detail and accuracy. Desirable:
Experience of working in a ward environment. Experience of implementing change within a department and/or team. Personal Qualities Essential:
Demonstrates enthusiasm and commitment to the role.
