DIUCS Senior Clinician – Nurse / Paramedic

DIUCS are looking for experienced nurses and paramedics to join our Urgent Care Service as a Clinical Assessment and Treatment Centre Senior Clinician based at our site in St. Leonards on a full or part time basis.

As a Clinical Assessment and Treatment Centre Senior Clinician, you will be part of a team of clinicians providing visible clinical support to our Health Advisors and wider clinical teams during hours of operation. Leading by example as an effective Clinician when on shift is essential within this role.

IUCS are committed to the development of our clinical teams and offer a range of accredited University modules and in house training to enhance skills and knowledge. Successful completion would put you in a great position to apply for exciting clinical roles within the service including our new Band 7 Urgent Care Practitioner role, combining face to face and telephone consultation.

Calls will be directed to you when patients require clinical advice, by using a combination of your clinical experience and our Pathways Clinical Consultation System (PaCCS software, you'll ensure the patient receives the most suitable treatment tailored to their needs. Treatment can range from self-care and advice to referring patients to other services.

The role of Clinical Assessment and Treatment Centre Senior Clinician benefits from 24/7 rotas and enhanced shift allowance for evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Main duties of the job

DIUCS brings together NHS 111, a clinical assessment and treatment service which includes, mobile clinical visiting services, urgent treatment centres, minor injuries units, and a single point of access for professionals, Integrating these elements, which are provided by a range of partners, presents the opportunity for more people to receive seamless urgent advice and/or care, and reduce the strain on primary care, our EDs and the 999 service.

The post holder is required to undertake high quality, holistic, patient centered clinical assessments of patients via the telephone, which always considers people's safety, privacy and dignity.

The post holder will be required to provide an excellent standard of clinical practice which includes safely managing the call back queues through the systems, providing clinical support and advice to our non clinical health Advisor team.

To provide specialist advice to others regarding the management and care of patients.

To plan, implement and review health improvement programmes in a range of settings.

To provide supervision, mentorship, training and clinical support to students, trained practitioners and non clinical colleagues.

Person Specification

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND TRAINING

Essential

Registered practitioner to degree/diploma level supplemented by post registration diploma level specialist training and/or short courses or demonstrable extensive experience in the relevant specialty Membership of the relevant Professional Body Evidence of recent professional development in an up to date portfolio Learning and Assessing in Practice Qualification or equivalent practice assessors training

Desirable

Knowledge and understanding of Trust Strategy relevant to role

Experience at Practitioner Band 5 level Experience of specialist working Experience of managing change Experience of developing specialist programmes of care for an individual or groups of patients/clients and of providing highly specialist advice Able to demonstrate specialist clinical reasoning skills to assimilate information in order to make a clinical judgement regarding diagnosis and intervention.

Experience of planning and organising complex activities, e.g. organise own time and that of junior staff and learners, planning off duty rotas and undertaking discharge planning involving co-ordination with other agencies.
