A fantastic opportunity has emerged for a passionate, highly motivated, and dynamic pharmacist to lead the clinical trials pharmacist team at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust (Chelsea Site).

This is an exciting time to join the Royal Marsden Hospital Clinical Trials Department. Our service is built around providing a high-quality service to our patients and staff of the Trust.

The Royal Marsden is a world-leading cancer centre with two hospitals: one in Chelsea, London, and another in Sutton, Surrey. We also have a satellite Medical Day Care Unit located on the grounds of Kingston Hospital, Surrey.

This position will be based in Sutton but will require working at our Chelsea site, when necessary, to ensure consistent leadership and maintain the quality and speed of service during absences and annual leave.

Applicants must have significant previous experience in clinical trials.

You will lead a team of pharmacists, and work collaboratively with senior pharmacy technicians, to develop and deliver our pharmacy clinical trials service at our Sutton site. You will work collaboratively as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team to ensure we always deliver outstanding care to our patients.

Main duties of the job

To act as lead Pharmacist for Trust Research & Development (R&D), including by delegation for individual clinical trials. Responsible for the leadership and strategic development of the pharmacy clinical trials service across the Trust, including clinical education, training and research. Responsible for the overall governance of clinical trials in Pharmacy, ensuring regulatory requirements are met. Responsible for ensuring all necessary Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are in place, reviewed and updated in relation to Clinical Research & Development (R&D). Lead and manage the Pharmacy Clinical Trial service in accordance with current UK Clinical Trial Regulations, the Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials) regulation 2004, the EU Clinical Trial Directive (2001) and all updates, together with ICH GCP guidelines and departmental procedures and ensure provision of a high quality service to patients and staff at the Royal Marsden. To ensure standards agreed for the clinical trial pharmacy service are met, ensuring performance is monitored and that services are provided efficiently, to the required GCP standards, and in accordance with the needs of users. Key member of several Trust R&D multidisciplinary groups.

To act as the pharmacy champion at all regional, NHS England and local meetings relevant to Clinical Trials service delivery. To establish and maintain highly effective communication routes in line with the needs of the diverse range of stakeholder interests. To lead in the development of relationships with other pharmacists leading pharmacy clinical trials services, developing a strong understanding of the provision of pharmacy clinical trials services nationally, developing opportunities for collaboration. To effectively work across the boundaries to encourage and support the implementation of creative and innovative service models and ideas. To provide professional leadership and support to pharmacists within the clinical trials team and wider across The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. Devise policies and procedures in conjunction with stakeholders ensuring the adoption of best practice methodology. To attend multidisciplinary meetings and provide pharmacy clinical trials guidance when required. To work with the Clinical Trials and Aseptic Services Operations Manager to continuously evaluate the existing service and to make suggestions to the Chief Pharmacist for improvement.

GPhC registration MSc/Diploma in Pharmacy Practice or equivalent Good Clinical Practice Training and knowledge (GCP-ICH)

At least 6 years post registration experience Recent (within last 3 years) Senior Clinical Oncology and/or Haemato-Oncology Hospital Pharmacy experience Recent (within last 2 years) experience of managing a portfolio of clinical trials Recent (within last 2 years) experience of managing a team of staff delivering a clinical trials service Experience of leading and developing a service Experience of leading and managing change projects to improve services Experience of delivering education and training to both pharmacy and multidisciplinary staff Experience of investigating incidents and managing risk

Desirable

Experience in the development and management of sponsored (investigator-led) clinical trials
