Senior Mental Health Nurse

·
Full time
We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and passionate Band 6 nurse to join our team working within an 8 bedded PICU that provides assessment and treatment for inpatients aged 18 and over, presenting with a mental health crisis.

This role is not for the faint-hearted; it will be challenging and pressurised but ultimately it will be extremely rewarding and have an emphasis on providing a therapeutic environment which promotes the principles of person-centred care that is least restrictive and recovery focused.

Main duties of the job

The post requires an individual with strong communication skills who has the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary ward team. This role requires someone who can work under pressure and be adaptable.

Applicants must have relevant experience of working within a mental health setting, be flexible, hardworking and compassionate with a desire to work in a fast-paced environment.

You will be confident in delivering least restrictive, recovery-focused interventions, giving consideration to risk management and adapting to ensure care is personalised to meet individual needs.

You will need to be a versatile practitioner who is committed to delivering a quality service; you will be reflective, articulate and an excellent team player. You will need to demonstrate skills in leadership and supervision.

You will have access to training and development opportunities, annual appraisals and clinical supervision.

If you believe you have the right attributes to accept the challenges that this position brings and you want to play a key role in service development, then we look forward to receiving your application.

About us

We're an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people's physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.

We are a people organisation and people matter to us. As part of the team, you'll help support the health and wellbeing of the people who live and visit this beautiful part of the UK.

Over 4,000 people make up the Trust. This includes doctors, nurses, therapists, plus admin and support staff.

We work in people's homes, in community clinics and bases. Some staff work from one of our 13 community hospitals. Our aspiration is to have great people, provide great care, be a great place to work and a great partner.

Approximately 568,000 people live here. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays, lots of people choose to visit the area. This increases the numbers of people who use our services.
