We are looking for a qualified Pharmacist or Pharmacist Technician to join our Transformation team for 6 hours per week to help us meet some crucial objectives to set up and streamline processes for our homecare service and to minimize issues when tracking where prescriptions are. This role also supports the carbon neutral target.

Main duties of the job

In line with the Trust's 'True North' objectives, this role is instrumental in ensuring the Pharmacy procurement business function operates effectively so that an appropriate medicines supply is maintained for safe patient care. It is a key role in the development and maintenance of IT systems, installations, and updates across the Pharmacy department, particularly the Pharmacy clinical system WellSky Pharmacy (formerly JAC).

Job description

Job responsibilities

Lead the effective and appropriate procurement of all pharmaceutical items for Pharmacy and the Trust. Monitor quality and performance of key suppliers. Manage the Pharmacy procurement and IT team. Project manage cost and quality improvement projects that relate to Pharmacy procurement, IT or other relevant areas of expertise. Develop, manage and maintain all aspects of the Pharmacy department IT systems, acting as a subject matter expert for the Pharmacy system WellSky Pharmacy (formerly JAC). Act as a member of the Pharmacy Department Senior Leadership Team. Deputise for the Business Services & Transformation Manager as required. Work alongside and support other members of the Pharmacy Business and Transformation Team on key areas of joint work (including, but not limited to, prescribing formulary accuracy across IT systems, WellSky Pharmacy data quality and the effective in-system flagging of medicines excluded from tariff (PBRx drugs)). With support from other members of the wider Pharmacy team, develop and maintain the department's Business Intelligence functions. Provide professional advice and support to non-procurement or IT colleagues with relevant queries or project requests. Provide relevant teaching, training or educational sessions to the wider medicines optimisation team as appropriate.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Relevant Masters pharmacy or procurement degree, or equivalent. CIPS certification, or equivalent specialist experience.

Desirable

CIPS certification, or equivalent specialist experience.

Knowledge

Essential

Project management. Significant Pharmacy procurement experience. Experience of WellSky Pharmacy (formerly JAC) at system management level. Understanding of background to, and aims of, national and local healthcare policy/guidance and appreciate the implications of this on engagement and priorities. Experience in hospital pharmacy. Experience of line managing others, including recruitment, appraisals and HR disciplinary and performance management procedures. Evidence of working effectively within multidisciplinary groups. Experience of designing and implementing projects. Experience of developing policies, procedures, evidence-based guidelines, shared care guidelines. Understanding of the installation and configuration of PC hardware. Working knowledge of networks, servers and other forms of IT communication. Current developments in pharmacy. Changes occurring in the NHS.

Current developments in pharmacy. Knowledge of commissioning processes. Experience of recruitment. Business informatics.
