We have new exciting Digital Governance opportunities, leading on improving the Environment Agency IT estate, in particular the Digital Pipeline and developing a mitigation programme for IT that isn't supported by our IT providers Digital, Data, Technology and Security (DDTS). These are digital transformation programmes that require proven experience of digital delivery.
In these roles, you will be leading the transformation of current, aging and unsupported IT systems and embedding new systems into the business. You will also be working in partnership with DDTS and acting as the intelligent client on behalf of the Environment Agency. Over time the roles may change as we complete delivery of current priorities, and the successful candidates will be required to adapt to the developing asks of the organisation and emerging risks within their roles.
The team is responsible for: Working with DDTS in Defra and across the Environment Agency's business on longer term technology planning. Supporting, managing digital and IT investment across the EA and securing spending review funding for improving existing IT. Understanding the breadth of our EA IT estate and assisting custodians across the EA to manage and understand the risks of their IT estate. Working with DDTS to identify opportunities for improving IT and digital services and developing an improvement roadmap. Finding solutions to IT problems and communicating them across the business.
The team: The Technology Governance Digital and IT team sit within the Strategy, Transformation and Assurance department. Our aim is to support delivery of the Environment Agency's strategy and outcomes through technology and data services.
Experience/skills required: You will be self-motivated, with excellent interpersonal skills, comfortable working in a dispersed team and able to demonstrate the following skills through your experience and understanding: Experience of leading or playing a major role in the development of new IT systems and IT management. Be able to line manage a team and work with a variety of stakeholders being able to adapt communication styles to user needs. Working in partnership and as an intelligent client to deliver shared outcomes. Ensuring our user needs are understood and met by our delivery partners. Manage and adapt to changing priorities and requirements at a quick pace. Knowledge of the Environment Agency Business and the Digital systems used is desirable. A highly effective communicator, a proven leader/manager and an experienced influencer with an adaptive style who can advocate positively for change, manage process and relationships effectively.
Contact and additional information: Your base location will be any Environment Agency office. We use technology to full effect to keep in touch/enable a good work/life balance, however national travel will be required for meetings.
