As a Welding & Grinding Technician, you'll play a key role in maintaining the rail network, specialising in welding and grinding to repair and join rails. Working outdoors in all conditions, you'll be part of a team ensuring the safety and smooth operation of the railway. This role requires working near fast-moving trains, so safety is paramount.
Responsibilities:
Specialise in welding and grinding to repair rails - you will be using Arc & Aluminothermic methods. Work outdoors, in all weather, day and night. Lead and support a team to ensure safe and efficient work delivery. Follow strict safety protocols and communicate effectively with team members. Technical knowledge in maintenance and faulting. A commitment to safety and problem-solving. Minimum Requirements:
NVQ Level 1 or 2 in a relevant discipline (or equivalent experience). Full UK driving licence (Category B). MMA 1-4 welding qualification. Flexibility to work shifts, including nights and weekends. Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions. Ability to pass safety, medical, and driving assessments. HNC or equivalent. Salary: £35,785 per annum, 35-hour week (with paid overtime). Benefits: 30 days' annual leave (excluding bank holidays). Shift premiums for nights & weekends.
