Full time - 37.5hrs per week- shifts across 24 hours 7 days a week This is an exciting opportunity for a registered nurse who has an interest and experience in working with young people experiencing mental health crisis. The Crisis Care Service operates 24hrs per day 7 days per week, and provides intervention and support to children, young people and families experiencing mental health crisis. This role is in a department that operates on a 24/7 shift basis and therefore enables staff to qualify for unsocial enhancements in addition to their basic pay. Main duties of the job

As a member of the multidisciplinary team, and specifically the core team, working within agreed supervision and support structures in line with PDR, to undertake the following: To undertake appropriate mental health assessment of children and young people referred to CAMHS and provide a range of appropriate, evidence based clinical interventions including time limited home-based treatment, when required, under supervision. The post holder will provide support, advice and consultation to families/carers and other professionals involved in the life of the child/young person including the Accident & Emergency Department and paediatric wards at Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust and Ormskirk NHS Trust. To staff the Crisis Care Phonelines in a professional manner, initially under the supervision of senior practitioners, and working towards autonomous decision making when outcoming the calls. To support the day-to-day organisational planning and operational management of aspects of the Team, including managing ad hoc shifts or defined areas of a shift as requested by the senior practitioner. To support the day-to-day development and delivery of training and development packages to new/junior nurses, support worker staff and student nurses within the Team. Person Specification

Education and Training

Registered Nurse (Childrens, Mental Health or LD) with current registration appropriate to the job role. Placements or direct working within a mental health setting. Other post-basic qualifications relative to the role. Experience

Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team. Experience of risk assessment and management tools/processes. Experience within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. Knowledge

Knowledge of Learning Disability and Mental Health Presentations. Knowledge of child and adult safeguarding procedure. Child/adolescent mental health problems and approaches to assessment and treatment. Skills

Ability to organise own duties and prioritise tasks within a busy team environment. Capacity to listen and act in a caring manner towards patients, relatives and visitors, especially where there are barriers to understanding. Ability to adopt a flexible approach when required by the needs of the service. Knowledge of audit and evaluation methodology. Evidence of continuous professional development.
