Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

A fantastic Band 5 Dietitian opportunity has become available in a fast-paced, busy acute hospital in the beautiful city of Cambridge. As one of the largest teaching hospitals in the country, Addenbrooke's Hospital acts as both a regional and national specialist centre for various medical conditions, with our department of over 90 Dietitians, Dietetic Assistants and Administrative staff playing a vital role in a number of these across the Trust. As part of this post, you will be one of up to nine Band 5 Dietitians and will have the opportunity to manage both an inpatient and outpatient caseload. You will be working within one of our adult specialist teams within the department, with support from Band 6 and Band 7 Dietitians to help develop your skills. The teams that you may be part of include: Oncology Neuro and Critical Care Gastroenterology, Renal and Hepatology MODEL (Metabolics, Obesity, Diabetes, Endocrinology and Lipids) Paediatrics This post would be ideal for both newly qualified Dietitians looking for their first post and experienced Band 5 Dietitians seeking a new challenge in a tertiary hospital. We also encourage applications from current final year Dietetics students who are looking for a post after they have graduated. This post is based entirely on-site at Addenbrooke's Hospital and does not have the opportunity to work from home due to the acute nature of the role. Main duties of the job

To act as part of the Dietetic Team and in conjunction with the specialist team to provide dietetic services to a variety of general and more specialised patients at Addenbrooke's and other external Units/agencies as appropriate. To work within a multi-professional framework and contribute to a first-class service through evidence-based clinical practice, management, education, research, and audit. To set and work towards individual and team objectives that reflect corporate plans and work within the clinical governance framework. Job responsibilities

Situated within one of the specialist teams, you will work alongside specialist Dietitians whilst providing services to general and specialist Dietetics (e.g. Neurosurgery, Infectious Diseases, Respiratory, Trauma, Endocrinology, Stroke) and Outpatients clinics, for example, Gastroenterology, Oncology, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Renal, Paediatrics, and Transplant. Once you have started in the department, you will be allocated a dedicated Preceptor, a senior member of the team who is present to support your clinical development and help you navigate your first year following registration as part of our designated Preceptorship Programme. This programme will also enable you to access our Bridging The Bands system, which allows shadowing of any member of Dietetic staff in their specialist field (e.g. intestinal rehabilitation, bone marrow transplants, neuroendocrine tumours, as well as opportunities in our Paediatric Dietetics Team, such as Ketogenics and Cystic Fibrosis). This is in addition to designated clinical tutorials, competencies, and development opportunities, all while interlinking with the award-winning Trust Preceptorship Programme. While we do not operate a formal rotation programme, should a Band 5 vacancy open in another team (for example if progressing to a Band 6 post), we provide current Band 5 staff with the opportunity to rotate into their post to gain more exposure in another team after being within the department for at least 6 months. This is a fully onsite role to ensure the staff member is fully supported with their development within their role. The Department has a thriving and well-regarded Research Group and has supported staff with postgraduate qualifications; this post offers junior staff or those new to research guidance and support in research skills development.
