Locum Consultant in Endocrinology and Diabetes
to join our multidisciplinary team at NHS TRUST. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced clinician to provide high-quality care and leadership in the management of endocrine and diabetic patients. The role is an agency locum position. Key Responsibilities : Clinical Care : Provide expert clinical care in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of patients with diabetes, endocrine disorders, and metabolic conditions. Lead the outpatient and inpatient management of patients with a variety of endocrine and diabetes-related issues. Manage complex cases, including patients with diabetes complications, thyroid disorders, pituitary disorders, adrenal conditions, and bone metabolism disorders. Lead clinics and supervise junior medical staff, ensuring high standards of patient care. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, providing input on patient management and discussing treatment plans. Ensure timely communication with GPs and other healthcare professionals involved in patient care. Teaching and Training : Provide teaching and supervision to junior doctors, medical students, and other healthcare professionals. Participate in educational activities and departmental meetings to keep up to date with the latest developments in the field of endocrinology and diabetes. Research and Audit : Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement projects, and research initiatives relevant to endocrinology and diabetes. Contribute to the development of local protocols and guidelines in line with current best practice. On-call Duty : Participate in the on-call rota for the department, providing 24-hour coverage for emergency cases as required. Essential Qualifications : Full GMC registration with a license to practice. Completion of Specialist Training in Endocrinology and Diabetes or equivalent. CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) in Endocrinology and Diabetes, or equivalent experience. Extensive experience in the management of complex endocrine and diabetic conditions. Evidence of continuing medical education and professional development. Desirable Qualifications : Experience in leading outpatient clinics and inpatient services. Experience in research or clinical audits. Membership of relevant professional organizations (e.g., Diabetes UK, The Endocrine Society). Experience in teaching and training medical staff. Skills and Attributes : Strong clinical decision-making and problem-solving skills. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Commitment to patient-centered care and quality improvement. Ability to work under pressure and manage a demanding caseload.
