Portering Supervisor Location: Coventry, CV2 2DX Hours of work: 37.5 Contract Type: Permanent The Portering Supervisor will support the Head of Portering in the daily management of the Portering department, ensuring that the service provided meets all contractual obligations and business objectives. Job Description This role involves overseeing the portering team, ensuring they are well-positioned to deliver high-quality service. The Portering Supervisor will also address and escalate any issues as necessary, maintaining smooth operations and upholding the standards expected within the department. Your leadership will be essential in managing the team's performance and ensuring the overall success of the service delivery. Key Responsibilities Provide direction, guidance and support to all staff within the department to ensure they carry out their roles efficiently and effectively and comply with relevant legislative, ISS and Trust operating standards to achieve the department’s service provision and business objectives. Maintain a healthy, safe and secure working environment in line with current legislation and ISS and Trust policies and procedures and ensure that all staff are trained and comply accordingly. Ensure correct resource levels are maintained to meet service provision objectives and identify additional short-term or emergency resource requirements and seek agreement for these from Head of Portering. Utilise staff within the whole portering department to ensure that porters are working efficiently and effectively to maintain flow within the hospital and deliver high levels of patient experience to support clinical staff. Make day to day decisions on the running of the portering service; escalating to the Head of Portering as required. Undertake service quality and performance monitoring and to report this to the Head of Portering and to implement any corrective action line manager deems necessary. Implement appropriate actions identified by the Head of Portering as a result of audits completed by external and internal regulatory bodies, corporate departments or the Trust. Promote good communication and feedback systems with staff to promote a positive working environment within the portering service. Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications Ideally supervisory experience. Good customer service skills. Problem-solving skills.
