We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant/Associate to contribute/make a leading contribution to the project ‘Anthelmogram: the next generation decision making tool for anthelmintic resistance management in Europe’, working with Dr Roz Laing and Professor James Cotton at the University of Glasgow, with project partners throughout Europe. The project will involve a mix of gross parasitology, molecular biology and bioinformatics as we seek to better understand and diagnose anthelmintic resistance in Europe. We will use targeted sequencing to characterise gastrointestinal nematode communities and detect known molecular markers of drug resistance, together with generating whole-genome sequence data to identify novel resistance mechanisms. The successful candidate will undertake research in a multi-disciplinary veterinary parasitology lab, contribute to the formulation and submission of research publications and research proposals as well as help manage and direct this complex and challenging project as opportunities allow. This position is full time and funded until 31 st
