Axon Moore are exclusively partnering with a leading PE-Backed Services business based in Blackburn as they embark on a search for a new Financial Controller.
The successful Financial Controller will work closely with the Finance Director, Group CFO and external stakeholders, driving financial performance and growth by providing financial guidance and leadership to the business.
The role involves extensive operational aspects, and you will provide key factual insights and strategies to support and influence decision-making. Overall, you are an authoritative figure who leads and commands your team to success; this involves people & performance management, developing & mentoring, succession planning and forecasting resource.
You are a resilient and forward-thinking individual who pro-actively implements change in order to hit business goals. You are responsible for high quality financial reporting, management accounts and ensuring all compliance & controls are being followed whilst actively looking to mitigate risk and issues.
This position has a clear progression plan in place and will become the Finance Director in 1-2 years time.
Key responsibilities will include:
Contribute to the achievement of the company's business objectives by providing advice and guidance on financial strategy. Set long term goals for the Finance team, embedding effective controls and robust processes to support on-going growth and financial performance across the business. Work in close partnership with the following Internal and External Stakeholders including the Group CFO and FD and Head of Shared Service. Build, develop and maintain strong cross-functional partnerships with various departments across the business. Responsible for high quality & accurate financial reporting delivering flash, ledger closes and the management accounts pack to group deadlines. Responsible for the preparation & review of monthly management accounts from trial balance to financial statements. Ensure adherence to IFRS accounting standards & statutory reporting requirements. Lead the Balance Sheet reconciliation process. Lead year end statutory audit process, liaising with external auditors and providing all necessary documentation and evidence. Lead and be a key point of contact on all internal finance transformation projects. Lead on acquisition and integration projects. Direct and motivate the finance team and provide them with the resources & tools they need to be successful.
This would naturally suit a Qualified FC/Head of Finance who is comfortable working in a large complex business.
