Do you have a heart for people and a passion for sharing the love of Jesus? Thirsk benefice is good heart, and with much reason to be. A creative, welcoming and outward-facing culture is held within Christ-centred, caring and entrepreneurial leadership - lay and ordained. The benefice is centred around Thirsk, a wonderfully attractive market town which together with its surrounding villages encapsulates the spirit and character of North Yorkshire. It is home to "The Yorkshire Vet", the award-winning ‘World of James Herriot’ and within 5 miles of the magnificent North York Moors. This is a post for a priest who will flourish in leading in a season of opportunity, building on work that has been gathering momentum, not least intergenerationally. A key priority for the new Rector is ensuring these works of God both further develop and are embedded. We can offer you: A well-appointed five-bedroom Rectory close to the town centre. Supportive colleagues, within the benefice, deanery and ecumenically. Welcoming and friendly congregations. Our hopes for are that our next Rector will be: Someone who will help us to grow (numerically) as congregations and as a witness to the community. A priest who will encourage us to grow as disciples at whatever stage in our Christian life we are. An enabler and will encourage us to move forward and develop our mission action plan. Experienced in ministry on multi-parish benefices, particularly in a rural or semi-rural setting. A collaborative team leader, of a ministry team comprising both ordained and lay. Comfortable in officiating and enabling a diverse range of service styles and traditions. Keen to nurture and strengthen links with the local primary schools. About Us The Diocese of York, led and guided by Archbishop Stephen Cottrell, takes in much of North and East Yorkshire. As the largest diocese in England, geographically, the area is very diverse, featuring a multitude of needs and opportunities. This includes the bustling urban centres of York, Hull and Middlesbrough, the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors National Park, and the incomparable Yorkshire Coast; as well as areas of deprivation in some of our urban and smaller rural and coastal communities. Our mission and ministry relies on thousands of people – lay and ordained, volunteer and paid. Our diocesan teams provide a wide range of support services to our mission and ministry, including lifelong learning for ministry, the care of church buildings, and safeguarding. Together, we are striving to be a people who are ‘Living Christ’s Story’. We want to be a simpler, bolder, humbler church which in its diversity reflects the communities it serves. We are bringing renewed focus and fresh energy to achieving our aims: Becoming

more like Christ. Reaching

those we currently don’t. Growing

in discipleship, influence and numbers. Transforming

our finances and structures.
