Applications are invited for an Oculoplastic, Orbital and Lacrimal Fellow for a twelve month post commencing in February 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Ophthalmologists to broaden their training in modern techniques in Oculoplastic, Orbital and Lacrimal surgery. Main duties of the job

Clinical duties include: General ward care, surgery, Out Patient Clinics and after hours emergency cover for the Cornea and Oculoplastic services. Provide on-call non-resident Ophthalmic services with responsibility to the on-call Corneo-Plastic Consultant. Manage patients who present with, or develop, complications as a result of their condition or other issues arising during their admission, seeking senior help as required. Participate in new and ongoing projects as well as presentations at national and international meetings. Attend and contribute to departmental teaching sessions as possible/required. Take part in regular audit of own and other’s practice and contribute data to individual outcome measures as requested by QVH. Person specification

Qualifications

MBBS or equivalent medical degree; successful completion of FRCOpth or equivalent. Eligible for full registration with the General Medical Council at the time of appointment and with a current licence to practice. Evidence of achievement of ST5/6 competences, or equivalent, in a relevant specialty at time of application, supported by evidence from work-based assessments of clinical performance and multisource feedback or equivalent. At least five years’ experience in ophthalmology and with the ability to operate independently and critically assess own surgical skills. You must have appropriate UK professional registration. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
