Job overview

This is a great opportunity for a Nurse or AHP to work with the Trust Lead Cancer Nurse, AHP Leads, Lead Clinical Practice Facilitator and Line managers to support implementation of the Aspirant Cancer Career & Education Development (ACCEND) framework and help to embed it to develop our existing and future cancer workforce. You will promote continuous learning and development and raise awareness of the variety of cancer education, training and career opportunities available. The role is to provide expert advice, knowledge, guidance and support to the cancer workforce, including clinical nurse specialists, ward and outpatient nurses, Allied Health Professionals, Cancer Support Workers and other members of the workforce who care for cancer patients in order to enhance care provision across the Trust’s cancer services. This will be achieved through a combination of coaching, mentoring, pedagogical guidance and support, to enable cancer clinicians to evidence their ACCEND capabilities and thrive in their role. This project role is funded by SWAG Cancer Alliance for 23 months and plans to focus on the development, expansion, and sustainability of practice learning by developing a supportive learning environment for the cancer care workforce. They will create resources to support line managers and develop ACCEND champions/mentors. The aim of ACCEND is to assist with attraction and retention by offering structured professional development and an increased awareness of career pathways in cancer. Main duties of the job

Working autonomously, with support from the education team, local, alliance wide and national communities of practice you will: Ensure the effective introduction of the ACCEND framework to different cancer workforce groups. Collaborate with and work closely with the SWAG ACCEND implementation lead, other ACCEND practice education facilitators within the SWAG cancer alliance to share best practice, outcomes and resources. Contribute to innovative practice development and help individuals link and bridge the gap between research, theory, policy and practice. Support the Trust to optimise opportunities in cancer education and cancer career development. Evidence and provide assurance that the cancer workforce are achieving their ACCEND capabilities in a supportive and constructive manner while ensuring the balance of risk to service delivery from releasing clinical staff for CPD is carefully managed and equitable. Qualifications and Training

Registered Nurse or AHP Recognised Teaching Qualification Knowledge and experience

Considerable clinical experience in cancer care Experience of clinical teaching and supporting students/registered nurses Familiar with ACCEND framework Employer certification / accreditation badges

You must have appropriate UK professional registration. The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
