This is a full-time post for a Consultant cardiologist with sub-specialty interest in cardiac MRI and is designed to keep up with the increasing demands on our local service, but also an exciting opportunity to enhance and further strengthen Cardiology services at CHFT. Applicants will be required to have, in addition to training and experience in cardiac MRI reporting, a wide range of experience in general cardiology and will join 10 full time and one part-time cardiology consultants in the Trust. A complementary sub-specialist interest in heart failure is encouraged; but other sub-specialty interests can also be accommodated. Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to work with colleagues at both sites as required to support the service. The post holder will contribute to the current 1:10 Consultant of the week model for delivering cardiology inpatient care at CRH. There will also be a commitment to a 1:10 cardiology on call service/ weekend rota across the Trust. There is no commitment to general medicine on call. Applications are encouraged from experienced consultants wishing to take up a new challenge or newly accredited consultants who will be supported through our highly regarded development programmes. The post holder is encouraged to develop his/her own sub-specialty interest. This is a Full-Time post providing 10 Programmed Activities (PAs), but applicants wishing to work part-time are also encouraged to apply and job plans will be adjusted accordingly, and by negotiation with appointees. Applicants must be on the General Medical Council Specialist Register or within six months of being admitted to the Register for trainees if in a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the GMC Specialist Register to be considered for a consultant appointment by the Advisory Appointments Committee. Essential criteria

MRCP or equivalent All applicants must have Specialist registration for Cardiology (or within 6 months of being admitted to the register for trainees, if currently in a training programme in the UK) but consideration will be given to applicants with relevant consultant level experience or trainees in a UK training scheme who are within 6 months of attaining specialist registration. Applicants must be Registered with the General Medical Council and hold a Licence to Practise Desirable criteria

Relevant higher degree (MD or PhD degree) Experience and Achievements

Essential criteria

Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in all aspects of Cardiology Experience/ training in a complementary sub-specialty such as heart failure Level 2 accreditation in cardiac MRI (SCMR or EuroCMR) achieved (or progressing towards completion) Desirable criteria

Fellowship /post-CCT experience in heart failure or complementary sub-speciality Understanding current issues within the wider NHS Attendance at a recognised management course Shows ability to work with and lead others across professions Teaching and Training

Essential criteria

Experience of and enthusiasm for clinical teaching of postgraduate doctors and non-medical staff. Desirable criteria

Formal qualification in teaching/education Training in clinical and educational supervision Attendance at a teaching course Audit and Research
